"Complimenting your staff"

Dear Alan,

In late November last year, I spent a night at the Maroondah Hospital with an injured knee. I wrote to you complimenting your staff at the Hospital, on the work they did, and how much I appreciated it.

Well, I ended up there again last week, not with a fall, but with a small abscess. Again, I arrived at Emergency, was transferred to the Surgery Ward, operated on successfully, and allowed to go home.

And again, I was so impressed by the staff I saw, their understanding, their care and their general attitude to the work they performed. Being in such a busy ward, I was amazed at the amount of work they completed, and in such a positive manner. During one night, there were two patients who were very vocal and very difficult, the responses from the staff were respectful and patient – for many hours. The other point I want to make relates to the great team relationships between all the staff I saw. It was lovely to watch the interactions between various members, and the support they seemed to give each other.

Could you pass my thanks onto the staff, please.

Dear thanks to staff

How kind of you to write again and share such an inspiring story about your experience at Maroondah Hospital. To impress our patients consistently is a challenge for all health service providers and so I feel very proud of our team at Maroondah Hospital. Additionally, your positive commentary about ".. their understanding, their care and their general attitude ..." is so much in line with our number 1 goal this year based on patient feedback, where we are aiming for "courtesy and kindness, every time, everywhere". These are certainly the things that matter. I will be sure again to pass your feedback on to our staff.
