"My mum"

My mum was admitted for a respiratory problem and irregular heart condition. Mum had a fall in the bathroom of her private room, because she was left unattended. Then another fall occurred also because she was left unattended in the bathroom.

The new shift nurse that came on to the ward attended to Mum after Mum had called the bell for help to the toilet. The nurse led her into the bathroom and left her alone. I told the nurse, Do not leave Mum unassisted in the bathroom as she has had a fall. The nurse said, I didn't know this.

I was told that Mum would not be unassisted in the bathroom when she needed to shower that two nurses would be with her and when she needed to use the toilet she would have one nurse assisting her. However, as far as I am aware, this did not happen and Mum had another fall, hitting her head which required a CT scan and she had a nasty bruise on her upper leg.

I was mortified and I felt both incidents were swept under the rug.

I demand a full report on both incidents.

My beautiful mum has now passed away.
