"No apparent help for a Parent of a Type 1 Diabetic Child"

About: Headspace Warwick

(as a parent/guardian),

We moved from Victoria to Queensland. A huge mistake as far as Type 1 Diabetic care and support goes. My child no longer has regular access to a trained Psychologist and regular Diabetic Educator or Dietitian. We now travel approximately 2 hours each way to attend appointments at a major hospital with a supportive Endocrinologist but nothing else. The Diabetes Educators have no empathy and cannot relate to us as parents or our child. There seem to be no dietitians to speak to and the most important person in my case is the trained Psychologist. I believe that Headspace and local hospitals are useless as they do not understand Type 1 Diabetes or Coeliac disease.
