"Appreciation for the Broome Midwifery Group Practice"

I wanted to express my appreciation of the Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) here in Broome and in particular my midwife Pam. Firstly the program is fantastic with the allocation of a midwife to each pregnant woman. This continuity of care and support really builds the foundations for a healthy pregnancy, a positive birth experience and happy adjustment to family life.

The home visits, which included both my partner and myself meant we were both very informed of our choices. This is a very important factor and all women should be able to have a choice for how they decide to birth their baby. Future plans to develop a Birthing Centre in Broome would definitely be a positive step forward.

The benefits of the MGP could be measured in terms of financial savings with less stays in hospital and less postnatal care. However the emotional benefits, which cannot be measured, enables a more happy and healthier future.

My midwife Pam, was not only highly professional, but extremely considerate of my personal choices. Pam quickly built a strong relationship of trust and respect, which I valued throughout my pregnancy. Having her involved in the birth of our baby made the experience a joyous occasion. She will always have a special place in our hearts – thank you.
