Dear Alan,

My child needed surgery done through DPU at the Angliss Hospital. From the time we knew surgery was needed we were booked within two weeks. We received adequate information and advice prior to the day which helped preparing my child and myself for the process. From the moment we walked in the front door at reception I knew things were going to run smoothly. Linda was our primary nurse who was diligent and friendly ensuring all questions were answered and ensuring that my child was made to feel special. Anaesthetist Dr Raja was extremely professional and friendly and eased my concerns early on. Dr Guin is an excellent paediatric surgeon who recommended using the Angliss which she has nothing but praise for.

We received a free pack with colouring in and a popup book as well as a certificate for my child before discharge. We were kept informed at all times and for what was a very stressful time for me as a parent was made much easier through the reassurance and professionalism of the DPU staff. I am happy for you to forward this feedback to the DPU NUM.

Many thanks for sharing our story on Patient Opinion. It really is terrific to receive positive feedback such as yours and it's a great boost to our staff to receive such public praise for their work. I will indeed have great pleasure sending on your feedback to the Nurse Unit Manager and staff in DPU as well as sending it to the management team at Angliss Hospital. I'll be sure to also let Dr Guin, Linda and Dr Raja know about your high commendation for their care and service too.

As you will know, it is quite different "being on the other side" and a great reminder too in terms of what our patients and their families experience every day.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write and I do hope that your child is getting back to full strength very quickly - the colouring book sounds like a great way to engage with our younger patients.
