"Second baby at Box Hill Hospital"

My husband and I welcomed our second baby to the world, once again at Box Hill Hospital earlier in the year and I feel compelled to write again to express my gratitude and satisfaction with the Know Your Midwife (KYM) care model.

I was fortunate enough to have both my pregnancies in the KYM programme under the care of midwives Robyn and Kelly who were present at both births. At all times I have felt uniquely cared for, respected and informed throughout my journey and this I believe is due to the depth of experience and skill which these two midwives possess. Due to my high level of confidence in the KYM programme I was on both occasions able to help manage my own care and after delivering, leave hospital early.

Whilst my second pregnancy was unexpectedly complicated by a prolonged labour and emergency Caesarean Section, I was treated with great care and attention by midwifery, anaesthetic, obstetric and theatre nursing staff alike. Under the experienced direction of Dr Colin, everyone worked swiftly to get my big baby out safely.

I was particularly impressed at the clear communications between staff and toward my husband and I throughout the labour and delivery.  And this was before anyone in the operating theatre knew I was a staff member.

Please accept my gracious thanks and relay my deep appreciation to all the professionals involved in my recent stay. I will not forget the seamless care experiences I have had as a patient at Box Hill Hospital and the KYM programme which is truly holistic in its delivery.
