At one week old, my baby was not breastfeeding properly and wasn't keeping anything down. He was sleeping for 6 hours between feeds and was only feeding for about 10mins before falling asleep again. We took him to Box Hill Hospital to have him checked out. He was born at Box Hill Hospital the week before. All of the staff that we dealt with were fantastic. They explained everything that they wanted to do, why they wanted to do it and informed us of what any results could mean. They admitted us and ran blood and urine tests and blood cultures. They told us that they were worried that he might have an infection and could need antibiotics. He was checked every few hours and I was told how he was doing and what was going on. His tests all came back negative and he started feeding normally again and not vomitting. We were discharged and told to go to our GP in a few days to check up on him. He is fine and hasn't had any more issues. I can not speak more highly of how we were treated by everyone at Box Hill Hospital. The doctors and nurses genuinely cared about us and were calm and reassuring without downplaying the potential seriousness on the situation.
"My baby so much better thanks to Box Hill Hospital."
