My father was a patient in Townsville Hospital after suffering a head injury. He was subsequently transferred to Cairns Hospital. I assume this was to be closer to us, we live closer to Cairns but still a long way. He developed an infection in his wound I think as a result of the move. Thankfully this is now clearing up. When I asked the social worker at Townsville, Matt, why he was moved they didn't know. When I asked the social worker at Cairns, Patricia, they didn't know either.

Having Dad at Townsville is more convenient for us as we have family there. We don't know anyone in Cairns.

Thank you for providing us with your feedback. I am sorry to hear that you feel the arrangements to move your Dad to Cairns to recover from his recent injury has made it more difficult for you and your family.

Many factors are considered when making decisions to transfer patients to other facilities. Patients and their families are usually involved in these discussions so I apologise if you feel this did not occur in your case.
