"Thank you Wantirna Health Palliative Care team"

About: Wantirna Health

(as a relative),

Mum is terminally ill with multiple cancers and was admitted to palliative care at Wantirna Health. From the moment mum arrived she was so well cared for, we cannot fault the level of care she received, the palliative doctors were just amazing the way they went about doing their job caring for the sick and frail, and it didn’t stop there, the entire nursing staff we saw,the OT’s, the social worker, ward staff and volunteers were just such amazing caring people, everyone who looked after mum in east ward made her feel very special indeed. We cannot thank the entire team enough. Mum is now settled in an aged care facility with ongoing palliative care and for the first time in many years she is pain free due to the change in medications the team put her on, she calls it her wonder drug. We are telling this story because we want the doctors, nurses and ward staff to know just how special they are and how appreciative we are of the level of care they provided during the three weeks of mum stay.

Many thanks to one and all you are amazing.

Dear Upthere

Thank you for sharing your story on Patient Opinion. Your story is indeed very moving and I appreciate that you have written this at what must be a very difficult time for you and your family. However, I am so pleased to read that you mum is comfortable and pain free and that is just so important. Your feedback on our staff makes me feel very proud of the team and the wonderful work they do. Thank you.

I will have great pleasure in passing on your feedback to the ward staff and also, to the local management team. It’s National Palliative Care week this week and your story is indeed a very nice reminder of what is important to patients and families receiving palliative care services.

I am so glad that your mum is now so much more settled and we send and share our thoughts with you at this time.

Kind regards and thanks again, Alan Lilly.
