"My health care"

About: Broome Health Campus / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I was visiting Broome from Townsville and needed attention for an infected ear. As it was a Saturday morning, no G. P. services were open and I was unfamiliar with the area where I presented at the emergency dept. of the local hospital. As part of the routine service the triage nurse did a pulse check and the next thing I knew I was on an E. C. G. monitor. The results were sent off to a cardiologist in Perth who diagnosed a case of atrial flutter (attending doctor was Dr Jessica). I was given medication and am now following up with a cardiologist in Townsville. I was taken completely by surprise as I was asymptomatic. All the staff were outstanding and I can not thank them enough.

Dear Rumirumi

Thank you for sharing your story on Patient Opinion.

I am pleased to hear your atrial flutter was diagnosed during your recent visit to Broome ED department when you presented for an infected ear. What a surprise that must have been for you!

We are very fortunate to have a caring and professional workforce at our hospital. I will personally ensure Dr. Jessica is aware of your kind feedback.

I sincerely hope you heart has settled and your ear is now healing. Hopefully it didn't dampen your holiday too much!

Kind regards

Maureen Crowther
