"The fantastic care received at the Geraldton Regional Hospital"

About: Geraldton Hospital

(as a parent/guardian),

My child had a cut on their upper thigh and needed stitches.

We arrived at triage at around 6pm. The triage nurse was very kind and we then went through to the Clerk who was also very understanding.

It was however, when we were called into the 'procedure' room, that I was super impressed with the care my child received.

Understandably my child was very upset and in a little shock. The Nurse Practitioner (Anthony) who treated my child was fantastic. He was kind, caring and funny - everything a parent could wish for when treating an injured child. He was honest with my child and explained everything that would be involved in getting stitches. Of course my child cried, however he dealt with the tears in a very gentle manner, in fact I am sure if he has children it would be the same way in which he would have treated his own.

Please pass on my thanks on to Anthony - this wonderful member of the Geraldton Regional Hospital. :)

Dear Veryhappymum

Thank you for taking the time to share your story on Patient Opinion.

It can be very frightening for a child when they are injured and in pain and to hear that our team were kind, caring and empathic is a credit to them. I will take great pleasure in passing your kind words on to Anthony and the team, I know they always appreciate receiving positive feedback.

I will also share your story with the Regional Director of Nursing and Midwifery and the Geraldton Hospital management team who will be very happy to hear of your hospital experience.

The Emergency Department can be a busy and demanding environment and so providing feedback like yours is a great reminder of what matters most to families when their loved ones are in need of care.

I hope that your child is continuing to recover well and thanks again for taking the time to write.

Kind regards

Michele Young
