"Fabulous care at Maroondah hospital"

About: Maroondah Hospital

(as the patient),

I've just been discharged from 3N at Maroondah hospital today. I could not have been more impressed by the nurses, under the management of NUM Chris and her ANUM's - the staff of ward 3N are outstanding in the fact that I believe they actively seek to step up to the plate and proactively care, to their highest ability for the patient's, entrusted to their care including being open to learning and listening. Too many superb nurses to name them all. The respiratory medical team, led by Alan were also fabulous. The radiology department were also great, led by the fabulous doctor in charge, Paul who I think is incredibly skilled and kind.

When my head clears, I'll be writing to Eastern Health regarding the admission overall. It's good to know that they listen to feedback and then seek to review and improve their services.

Dear JaxO

'Many thanks for sharing your story on Patient Opinion and so pleased to read about your terrific experience in Ward 3 North under Nurse Unit Manager Chris' leadership. I do hope that you are recovering well and on track now to a full recovery.

I will be most pleased to share your feedback with Chris and the ward staff, along with Dr Alan and Dr Paul too. I will also drop a line to the management team at Maroondah Hospital.

Receiving feedback like yours is such a positive boost to staff and reinforces the things that matter to patients. Thanks again JaxO for taking the time to write - we really do appreciate your kind thoughts and reflections in this regard.

Look after yourself and keep well.

Kind regards, Alan Lilly.

Hi Alan

Thanks. I will hopefully be back in the pool, starting regaining fitness by the end of the week. Each day there is improvement.

I forgot to also mention the fabulous respiratory physiotherapist, Richard - Eastern Health is very lucky to have such a highly skilled and knowledgeable staff member.

I've previously followed up with Gayle Smith via phone and email after an admission in October last year, you were away at the time - is she still the best person to raise a couple of other matters with, which are inappropriate to discuss in a public forum?

Hello again JaxO

Apologies, I didn't see your additional comments until this morning. In the meantime, Chris NUM had also emailed me though to say that she was so pleased with your feedback so again, thanks for making a difference for our staff and for taking the time to share your story.

With regard to your latter question, if you have any further specific issues, please do send them to Tanya.hendry@easternhealth.org.au and Tanya will gladly follow-up for you. Gayle Smith is currently on leave.

Hi Alan,

After 140+ hospital admissions in just shy of 10 years, I firmly believe that where praise is due, it should be given. I also believe in working with hospitals, to help improve and smooth out processes so that best care can be afforded.

Thanks for Tanya's email address, I will email her and also cc in the State health minister, as they also have an interest.

Kind regards
