"Appalling waiting times"

About: Central Highlands Healthcare GPs in the Flynn Electoral District

(as the patient),

Been there 3 times now and have waited 1. 5 hrs everytime. Today my appointment was at 4. 30 and im still waiting and they want us to pay 80 dollars too see them. This is appalling. Something needs to happen

I am terribly sorry you have had this experience at our Practice, we are aware that our doctors do run behind at times.

Whilst all attempts are made to run on time this is sometimes out of our control based on individual client’s needs.

We do try to ring clients in advance if time permits and sufficient notice is provided we also advise and encourage our clients to call prior to their appointment if they have had this experience before or are mindful that their doctor has a tendency to run late.

However I am aware we cannot capture everyone and that each day and doctor is different.

Our doctors are also on occasion required to attend the hospital in the event of emergencies.

Thank you for writing and letting us know of your poor experience. I do note that the post was Monday morning and it would have been great to understand the day that you were here, the practice manager has responded and would appreciate a call.

I am sorry that you have had to wait such a long time on each occasion, I do not know why that would be, as our wait times are on average much shorter than 90 minutes. I do apologize. For routine appointments it is often better to make them as early as possible, we also offer a late night clinic after work and on weekends.

The practice staff try as best they can to ensure customers are kept up to date with wait times. Unfortunately emergencies and other eventualities (such as childbirth attendance) are occurring out of visibility of the waiting room.

I note your concern too about being charged $80 each visit; I wanted to check that you had the right practice as we do not charge $80 as a standard fee.

We will take on board your feedback however and review our bookings and waiting times.
