I have found the Burdekin Rural Health Rehabilitation very friendly with expert experienced staff. They explain all the exercises clearly and are there to help when assistance is required. I found out about the service through the HEAL program, a nutritional and exercise program of eight weeks. I joined by getting a letter from my doctor about my obesity and ability to exercise. It cost an initial assessment fee and then $120 for 16 sessions. I chose one hour Tuesday mornings because I still work casually as a support worker and school tutor, this suited me. The service is very flexible. Although I am still struggling with my weight, the exercise and the company of others had a positive impact on my general well being. Also I am invigorated by the exercise making me stronger, flexible and less prone to back aches and injury. I hope the service is funded further because it is well supported and helped me to continue with regular exercise and improved health.
