Mum is quite elderly, suffers from dementia, and we suspected a stroke when she started to slur her words so we took her to Box Hill Ed.
How good are they in the ED? The triage nurse Jen was down to earth and warm - absolutely no patronising and soon had Mum in one of the many emergency beds. My mum then saw nurse Lauren who combined competence and kindness and took blood and prepared for the CRT and for the charming Dr Thomas who explained the concerns and action to be taken.
Our final interaction was with Dr E who explained the results of the blood tests and CT Scan and diagnosed the likely problem. There were other staff along the way whose names I don't remember and without exception, they were a pleasure to meet.
It was after midnight when we finally left and of course, Mum remembers nothing of it now but I do.... and my family and I want the world to know that somehow you at Box Hill ED have raised the bedside manner bar sky high. It was wonderful how all the exchanges with my elderly Mum were polite and warm without a hint of condescension.
I might add that the ED has been modernised and seems to very well appointed and I hope that the modern environment helps staff to do their jobs. There was certainly no hint that anyone was stressed or impatient.
Please keep up your fantasticness.
"Box Hill ED gives a level of fantasticness."
