"Better services needed on weekends"

About: Angliss Hospital

(as the patient),

Can we make Occupational therapy (OT), Physio and speech pathology services available on the weekends please. It will make recovery faster for patients. I had nothing to do on the weekend and I spoke to several other patients who were very keen for therapy on the weekends even though they are quite elderly. This was the greatest disappointment when I first came here. The therapy staff are absolute saints but we need more therapy to get better faster.

Many thanks for providing your feedback on Patient Opinion as it is through receiving this that we can make changes.

As part of our goals to improve the patient experience, we have been looking, wherever possible, to make services 7 days per week, as you have suggested. We do have allied health services available on weekends, so would be keen to understand any particular circumstances regarding your experience (especially given other patients have had the same experience).

Further to my previous post, I have investigated further and we do have some allied health services on weekend, but as you mention, it is limited.

We are in the process currently of reviewing this to determine how we can expand the weekend coverage in our rehabilitation services.
