"Cairns Mental Health Department"

About: Cairns Hospital / Mental Health Unit

(as the patient),

Within the last three years I have been admitted to the Cairns Mental Health Department with symptoms of severe depression.

On both occasions I was submitted to a barrage of unwanted and unnecessary religious diatribe from different nurses.

I am not a religious person and I clearly stated this fact several times to each nurse and was either ignored or, on one occasion, told that I would never recover until I found my God.

I found all of this treatment to be highly offensive, unwarranted and extremely unprofessional. At the time I was in no condition to make a formal complaint but I wish to do so now.
