"Late night emergency staff rude, uncaring and unprofessional."

About: Wagga Wagga Base Hospital

(as the patient),

I suffered severe pain from Kidney stones and a slight rip to the Urethra so was transported to The Wagga Referral Hospital.

The pain was agonizing and all the staff dealing with me could do was seemingly squabble between the attending paramedics and the night staff as to whose responsibility it was when I stated that I needed to go to the ladies.

After that I was given Morphine which wasn't working, During this time I started being sick and was almost begging to get ice to sooth my throat from the continuous vomiting...no one paid me any attention, it was like I didn't even exist.

I got onto the floor and laid there writhing in agony with my husband holding my hand when a nurse came through and said "What are you doing on the floor, get back on the bed now"...which I did but begged again for ice.

My husband at that stage intervened and told the nurse that the pain relief wasn't working.

I had, had a cannula put in so the staff increased my Morphine to the maximum amount.

I then asked for more ice with none forthcoming from the two staff members that I initially saw.

Another staff member walking through was lovely and expressed her concern for me.

From there things are very sketchy as the morphine kept getting topped up.

But from what my husband tells me a doctor came and saw me, tests were then ordered and scans, it was discovered that not only did I have a Kidney Stone, but a small tear which was allowing fluid to leak out and was causing the intense pain.

The majority of the staff that night that attended me were kind, professional and on the ball.

But the initial two that I saw were a disgrace and more one than the other..I understand that that department is really busy but if they have time to stand around discussing home and social lives, I figured they had time to look after a patient.

At first I thought it might have been just my perspective but my husband also agreed that they were his words not mine "a pair of real b's"...

You have a beautiful brand new hospital and the bulk of your staff that I saw are very good, it seems like a really big shame to have this sort of thing happening.
