"Geraldton Hospital"

About: Geraldton Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I arrived at the Geraldton Hospital via ambulance. I was kept in the Emergency Department until 430am and was then transferred to the ward. I was on the ward for 4 days and in that time my bed was not made or the sheets changed and my water glass was not changed. I was also kept in the discharge lounge for 4 hours which appeared to be a long length of time.

Dear Improvements need to be made

Thank you for taking the time to write and share your story on Patient Opinion. WA Country Health Service strives to provide quality patient centred care and we are disappointed to hear that your stay at the Geraldton Hospital did not meet expectations and the circumstances you describe warrant further investigation. Feedback like yours allows us to change and improve our systems, our processes and our staff knowledge.

It is difficult to provide comment about your particular case without further details. I have spoken to Jeff Calver, Acting Operations Manager, Geraldton Hospital and he would very much like to discuss the issues you have raised in regard to the care you received during your stay. We would welcome your call and your concerns can still be addressed anonymously if you wish. This will help us to get the right information to undertake a review. You can phone Jeff on 9956 2369, alternatively you can contact Liz Kelly on 9956 2291 or email liz.kelly@health.wa.gov.au

If you choose not to make contact please be reassured that we will review the information that you have provided and identify where we need to do better.

We hope to hear from you soon and thank you again for sharing your story so that we may continually improve the care and service we provide.

Kind regards

Michele Young
