"Waiting at Geraldton Hospital Emergency Department"

About: Geraldton Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I recently attended the Geraldton Hospital Emergency Department as I had a bad cut. The staff were wonderful very caring and kind but I had to wait for hours, I think it was around 5 hours. Nobody knew what was going on, nobody told us. People were going in and out but the waiting room remained full.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on Patient Opinion. It is great to hear you had a wonderful experience with our kind and caring staff, they really do a great job in what can be a very demanding environment. I will be sure to pass your compliment on to the team.

I understand how frustrating it can be waiting to be seen in the Emergency Department particularly when you are in pain. WA Country Health Service Midwest aims to ensure all patients are seen within a timely manner. Geraldton Hospital as do all hospitals, use the Australian Triage Score system to prioritise patients based on how unwell they are and as a result of demand for service sometimes patients do experience longer periods in the waiting room.
