"Timing of appointments."

About: Drug ARM Australasia - Fairfield

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I am employed in building trades. We are expected work Monday to Friday 7am to 3pm. So coming to a day appointment means I lose half a day wages. Even the last appointment at 3: 30pm is unsatisfactory because my travelling time is greater than 30 minutes.

The obvious solution is to offer me an appointment late in the day, e.g, 4. 30pm/5pm. I was told that this is not possible with current work arrangements because the office is closed.

I was benefiting from the appointment, but I can no longer afford the loss of pay as my partner is having our baby.

There is a second consideration: I am responsible for others on the building site. So if I am not on site they do not get their work recognised and therefore paid. This also is a factor in my having to give up my day appointment.

Dear Building worker NSW,

Sorry to hear our opening hours don't work for you at the moment. We understand that for people working Monday to Friday it can be really difficult to get to appointments. This is something we are working hard to find a solution to and should there be changes that allow us to offer more flexible times in future we will be sure to let you know.

I understand it has already been suggested, but if you are interested in finding other services that can work better around your schedule in future, please contact us and we will be glad to support you to find something suitable.

Tim
