Recently late one night at I had to take my husband in to Broome Emergency Department with severe pain which he thought was severe indigestion. I wish to say up front the nursing staff on at the time were amazing, however I was less than impressed with the attitude of the doctor rostered on at the time. I felt she was rude, abrupt and appeared uninterested in hearing his past history with the exact same problem only a month previous. I understand she was close to finishing for the night. I appreciate what the staff in Broome Emergency deal with on a daily basis, however how are you supposed to treat a patient if you are not interested in hearing him out? Yes he started rambling a little once the morphine started working, but we wanted answers for his severe pain not reduce the pain and send him home like last time.
The doctor who relieved her was exactly what you want from a doctor, he was in within 15 mins of starting. Heard my husband out and took a little more time trying to work out the problem and actually talked to us and explained what he thought was wrong. I wish to thank him and the nursing staff for their care.
