"PACE program at Complex Pain Unit, Princess Margaret Hospital, Perth"

About: Princess Margaret Hospital for Children

(as a parent/guardian),

A fantastic program to help children with chronic pain. My child and I finally felt that someone was listening and understanding. The support we have been given was helpful and encouraging. All the staff involved were caring and positive. Having the children go through the program in small groups helped my child feel less alone in dealing with chronic pain. We are looking forward to the follow up sessions, but wish they could be more frequent, monthly instead of three monthly. This would help us consolidate the new life skills learnt and keep up motivation.

Dear fantastic program

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on the PACE program.

Your comments have been shared with the team at the Complex Pain Clinic, who are really pleased to hear that your family’s experience with this program has been so positive. Our Chief Executive, Professor Frank Daly, has also read your feedback and is delighted that this service has been able to meet your child’s needs so well. I will also be sure to pass on your comments to Michelle Dillon, the Executive Director of PMH, when she returns from leave.

In relation to your comment about the frequency of sessions, all cases are reviewed on an individual basis and if extra assistance is required, a family is provided with extra support and access to these sessions. Please speak to your case manager to explore the possibility of increasing the frequency of your child’s sessions.

Thank you again for your feedback. The team in the Complex Pain Clinic work hard to deliver the PACE program, and I know they will feel a tremendous sense of pride in knowing that the service is really delivering for their patients.

Kind regards

Sue Peter
Acting Executive Director
Princess Margaret Hospital for Children
