"Sydney pain clinic"

I first attended the private pain clinic and was seen by a pain specialist, I had a list of questions for the doctor which they immediately advised they didn't have time to answer. The doctor went through my medical history and observed me walking up and down the corridor a few times, they went through my current medications and advised that the painkillers - codeine based that I was taking to manage my pain had to be ceased as they were unhealthy for me.The doctor asked me to stop these medications and prescribed me a new medicine, which is not pbs approved so is very expensive, then asked to see me in a month. I paid $280 first consult fee.

The following appointment the doctor asked how I was going, I explained that I had found a rehab service and I was getting support through them to help with the pain and mobility issues. The doctor then advised me to cease the new medication and that they wanted me to keep moving and now start reducing all my other medications for pain. I explained that I haven't had my pain reduced and therefore how can I stop taking my meds.I found the doctor to be abrupt and non personable. I don't understand their purpose of changing my medications only to cease them a month later.The doctor has not referred me to any other support service, including physio, OT, or counsellor to help me address my pain, yet wants me to suddenly stop taking my meds... does this doctor think because I attend their rooms that I am automatically better - I think not
