"Sale Hospital Emergency Dept Triage Nurse"

About: Sale Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

Presented on medical advise to Sale Hospital with sharp pain and headache at a cancerous growth area on head. Not able to get a doctor's appt. and was advised to go to ER. I found the triage nurse to be extremely rude and straight away told me without any further questions she can't help and to go and see a doctor. Turned away rudely while trying to cope with recently finding the cancer and the surgeons booking me in the next available day he is in his offices, after his surgeries. They booked me in at high priority but the triage nurse on that day was extremely rude and turned me away. Then when I walked out she said - oh fine I'll help you get a doctor's appointment. Absolutely heartbroken, worried, stressed and in pain - to cop that was terrible.

Dear Spot,

Thank you for bringing your concerns to my attention and I am very sorry that your experience in our Emergency Department was not a pleasant one and not at the standard of care we would wish.

I understand that this has been a distressing experience for you and welcome a discussion so that I may gain a better understanding of the details of your visit. We always welcome constructive feedback as it helps us improve the service we strive to give.

Please contact me by email denise.mcinnes@cghs.com.au and I will be very happy to give you a call.

Kind regards

Denise

Update posted by Spot (the patient)

To anyone who reads this incl Denise,

Although the nurse in question acted in distaste, I would like to publicly announce that Sale Hospital dealt with the incident immediately. In fact I received an email that very day apologizing for the occurrence and that it was being investigated.

Within a few days, without going into details, I would like to say that management of the hospital took my complaint very seriously and dealt with it in a professional and exceptional manner.

So in short anyone who has an issue do not be afraid of following through with your thoughts. I was made to feel as though I did matter and so did my experience VERY VERY happy and to be honest quite surprised and would take this opportunity to thank the hospital for their actions.

SPOT
