After 12 hours of not being able to keep any fluid or food down, a visit to his GP and told to come back tomorrow, we convinced my father to attend the Geraldton Emergency Department to at least get some fluids until he could see his GP again the next day..
After many months of chemo then radiation and using the medical professionals more than one person would hope to ever have to, he now is not a fan of going to ED when he feels there are more people in emergency situations who need their help more than him. So, going into ED apologizing for having to come in, and feeling embarrassed. He was welcomed by all the staff, seen to without a huge wait, without hesitation the doctors and nurses tried to fix his problem, they never made him feel like a nuisance, like he felt..
He was incredibly lucky to have such an amazing nurse, Jeremy, who looked after him from start to finish, was thorough and attentive.
From the person who they first saw at the front desk, to walking out the exit, they did not come across one unhappy person. They felt the experience at the ED was a positive experience and cannot fault any staff member at all.
