I was transferred to Sale Hospital to recuperate after having had surgery in another hospital. I was given a bed next to a window, which was lovely.

Whilst the staff treated me well, I was very concerned and at times scared by the behaviour of the patients that shared my room with me. I felt at times the patients were rude and their behaviour at times made me quite frightened. I did voice my concerns to the staff that looked after me, but feel that nothing was done to alleviate my concerns.

The hospital is a beautiful hospital with beautiful people, I just wish they would give more consideration when putting patients together in a room to share.

Thank you for telling us how you felt about sharing a room with others and your concerns.

I am very sorry that we caused you such concern.

I have received similar feedback recently from another source and I am keen to ensure we avoid doing this unless it is absolutely unavoidable and even then we need to ensure the mix of patients in the shared room is appropriate.

There are times when our choices are extremely limited with regard to bed allocations but this should be a very rare occurrence.

I am having discussions with the senior staff responsible for bed allocations to determine how we can avoid the situation you encountered in the future.
