Driving to Logan house I thought to myself, "A couple of months will be enough to 'cure' me ". I was clearly delusional. I ended up staying in the programme for the full 6 months.
During this time, I found that I learnt a lot about addiction and some of the psychology behind my abuse of alcohol. I also learnt a great deal more about myself and it was a substantially eye-opening experience.
Living 24/7 in a residential Therapeutic Community was not without its challenges. Being told when to get up, when to eat, when to exercise was alien to me and my initial reaction was to try to rebel. However, I found that surrendering to the programme was more beneficial to me.
I am grateful to Logan House for giving me the tools to help me live my new life in recovery.
An integral part of my recovery involves using the Logan House transition programme. This provides accommodation and support to help me fulfill a productive life in the 'real world. '
