"Disgusting service"

About: Box Hill Hospital

(as a relative),

My husband had his appendix out. I arrived while he was in theatre. I waited for 2 hours and needed to move my car. I asked the nurse outside my husband's room what time she thinks my husband will be out so I can work out where to park my car and she answered sarcastically - well how long is a piece of string?  Absolutely disgusting! What is wrong with the service of some people? If you don't like your job leave! She could clearly see me waiting at the counter and didn't budge to look up for 5 minutes and she is meant to be a nurse? 

I didn't even get a call to say he was out and when I came back, I stood back at the desk as my husband wanted some water and again was ignored by 4 staff members. A dietitian went and asked for me if he is allowed to have water and the same nurse answers sarcastically - "well he's just come out of surgery and he should only have ice blocks. I asked where can I get them from and she says - who's your nurse?  Ummmmmmm how am I suppose to know?

I would like to thank you for your feedback on patient Opinion and at the outset apologise for the experience you had. What you have expressed is not in line with how we would like our staff to behave or speak with patients, families or indeed colleagues.

I would be very happy to investigate this further and would welcome your direct feedback to me at however I will respect your wishes if you do not want to contact me. Either way, I would like to use your experience as a learning exercise for staff and in particular the surgical areas at Box Hill Hospital.
