I am writing to thank the GEM @ Home team from Eastern Health for all their wonderful support and medical attention that was provided to my mother over the past month.
My mother lives alone and had a fall and received cuts to her arm and a fracture in her lower back. She was not hospitalised but was in a great deal of pain and was also cognitively impaired.
The GEM team was put in place and assigned a Geriatrician (specialised Doctor for over 65’s), a Physio, Occupational therapist, Nurse and case manager.
All these professionals were extremely attentive, caring, on time at each visit and communicated well with our family. This assistance took a great deal of pressure off us by assisting Mum in her recovery and gave us all peace of mind that she was in good hands.
We have no hesitation in recommending the GEM team for those who may have an elderly relative living at home alone requiring special assistance.
