"My positive experience at Merredin Health Service"

About: Merredin Health Service Northam Health Service

(as the patient),

I was a patient at the Merredin Hospital for a few nights. I arrived at the ED (Emergency Department) in the afternoon and was admitted to the ward overnight. I then returned to ED again the following afternoon and spent two more nights in hospital.

From the time I arrived at the ED to the time of my final discharge, I was cared for very well by the doctors, kitchen staff and especially the nursing staff.

All of the nurses did their work efficiently, but four nurses in particular stood out in the way they cared for me during my stay - Angel, Ann and a third lady whose name, unfortunately, I am unable to remember.

But there was one nurse who really excelled in the level of care she provided in ED, the ward and when she accompanied me in the ambulance, when I was taken to Northam Hospital for a CT scan.

This was a young RN named Rita.

I was very impressed, not only by the devotion she gave to her job, but also by the kindness she displayed in making sure I was as comfortable as possible.

For example, while at Northam Hospital, she was always on hand to care for my needs, she took it upon herself to make sure I had something to eat after my CT scan, she even found my wallet and glasses before I realised they were missing.

Rita and the other staff are to be commended for the high standard of service and care that they provide to patients.

I would also like to specifically mention Dr Mirielsa.

On the day I arrived at the hospital, I believe Mirielsa had already put in a day’s work at the Merredin Medical Centre, then worked at the hospital overnight and then went to work for another day at the medical centre.

Doctors like her certainly deserve our respect.

I would like to mention the St. John Ambulance staff.

The two staff, Sami and Josh, were very professional & friendly.

Finally, I would like to say that I am very pleased that this level of service and care is available in Merredin.
