I am a carer whose husband attends Lucinda Cottage on a regular basis due to his Dementia. I recently attended a HammondCare retreat at Bells Killcare Beach.

The team leader did a superb job organising the event and took care of all our needs. We were literally treated like "royalty", and I was thrilled to be able to liase with the other carers and find out their coping strategies.

The accommodation was extremely comfortable, meals superb, and the back massage heavenly.

My only comment is we would have benefitted from an additional day of relaxing - a very rare occasion as a full time carer.

I would also like to mention that the team leader and her team do an absolute superb job - I feel extremely fortunate that I have found a place that I can leave my dear husband with absolute confidence that he will be well cared for, and that he feels loved and respected at the same time.

I was a pleasure to read your kind words about your experience at the carers’ retreat at Killcare organised by the team at Lucinda Cottage.

We have heard many stories from carers about how challenging it can be for them to keep up the energy and enthusiasm to carry out this really important role. Consequently we were pleased to be able to not just listen to carers when they talked about how valuable a retreat would be for their personal well being, but also take action in making this improvement by organising the carer’s retreat at Kilcare.

I am really proud of the HammondCare at Home staff, who have a passion to serve others and it is with joy that I have shared your kind words with the Manager and Northern Sydney team. They have been greatly encouraged by them, particularly as you expressed confidence in the care and service they provide at Lucinda Cottage.
