My father was admitted to Box Hill Hospital as a result of a fall at home. At the hospital he was catagorised as a 'fall' risk yet was left unmonitored during which time he left his bed and fell causing him further significant injury. Additionally, during his stay he approached hospital staff at the desk late one night as he couldn't sleep due to noise. My father was approached by two other males, making three in total, who I believe physically wrestled him back to his bed and may have either hit him in his left upper arm or injected him with something. My father describes this incident as a physical attack where no effort was made to build rapport, verbally diffuse, or attempt to achieve voluntary compliance. We feel that the interaction was immediately escalated to physical force which was disproportionate to any resistance that a very old man may have been offering. My father ended up frightened and confused by this overreaction.
"Very upsetting experience."
