"Cancer Treatment at The Alfred"

About: The Alfred

(as the patient),

I underwent treatment for tonsil cancer early 2017 as an outpatient both Chemo HOC (Haemotology/Oncology Centre) and Radiology Oncology teams were excellent all the way through. The HOC nurses always kept the mood light which was perfect under the circumstances. The genuine caring nature of the Nurses and Radiotherapy Technicians provided me a great sense of much needed strength. I became very sick toward the end of the course of treatment and was admitted as an in patient. The same treating team would see me on the wards which from a continuity of care was very reassuring and was nursed through to end of my treatment. Communication was clear although it seemed a bit guarded, I believe to not frighten off cancer patients from the hard road to be endured. I was very impressed on how the public hospital ran. I am now 4 weeks post Radiotherapy and am slowly gaining my clarity and strength back.

Keep up the great work.
