"Uveitis clinic in Sydney Eye Hospital"

(as the patient),

The Sydney Eye Hospital is a superb facility, however the Uveitis Clinic is often over populated with patients. Last week there was 94 people in the clinic. This week 89. I am a patient and it doesn't feel safe or appropriate to cram so many people into the one waiting room. I understand the importance of this clinic and the shortage of space at SEH, however it would be good if either more clinics were run or they were broken up to reduce the huge influx of patients.

Firstly thank you for acknowledging that Sydney Eye Hospital is a superb facility, we are very proud of the care and treatment our patients’ receive. Although there are strategies in place to cope with large volumes of patients in our eye clinics, due to clinical needs, at times the clinic can appear to be overcrowded. Your feedback is very valuable and timely as we are currently in the planning phase of remodelling the clinics, waiting space and patient booking system in attempt to further address the issues you highlight.

Just a quick update to let you know that an interim solution of relocating certain clinics has been implemented, to address the issues you raised around overcrowding and waiting times in the Eye Bicentennial clinic.

Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospital strives to provide quality consumer-centred care by building positive partnerships with our patients, so thank you again for taking the time to get in touch and also, allowing us the opportunity to improve our service.
