Near the start of the year I was at home cleaning out my gutters and I fell off my roof. As a result of the fall I broke/split my left tibia in two pieces, broke my fibula on a 45 degree angle and blew my talus out. I also had a tibia plateau fracture on my right leg and a compound distal radius fracture on my right arm. So lets just say I was incapacitated.
From that day on and after the surgery, my home was Orthopaedics Ward 2B.
I would like to congratulate all the nurses I saw on this ward as their performance was outstanding. I was bed ridden for the month and a half in this ward and they looked after me better than a five star hotel.
Whenever I hit that buzzer, they came and helped me with whatever I needed, not that I'm a needy person.
I would also like to congratulate the upper and lower limb teams, especially Dr Noel. Immediately after the surgery he was at my bed in ward 2B every morning at 6:30am to see how I was and how my left leg was progressing.
I would also like to commend the radiology department and also Derek in the plaster section for my bio valve cast that he had to re-do several times.
All in all, the team that you had at that time, right down to the lovely lady who took my food orders daily, do not change it! They are a great team that work well together.
Oh and a special thank you to the nurse, Hilda, who kept me laughing and brightened my day.
I would like to send a gift to you all but not sure what the hospital policy is?
"After an accident excellent care at Princess Alexandra Hospital."
