"Worried about treatment of my parent."

About: Royal Perth Hospital

(as other),

My parent has been in hospital now for several weeks and recovering from surgery.

Since being in there my parent has deteriorated very significantly which has caused major concerns. Doctors don't return calls and I believe nurses can't do much without the opinions of a doctor. The nurse care has been good but as far as I'm concerned everything else has been absolutely horrible.

Even to a point where my parent was discharged the morning after a medical emergency code was called then hours later rushed back. Very, very poor decision.

I have called heaps of times and asked heaps of questions but all to fall on deaf ears? ? ?

Why can't I get answers and why can't tests be done to see what is happening etc to my parent's health and why they have sufficient weight loss - 6 kg a in 4 weeks? ? ?

I understand that's the health system and at the end the doctors and nurses are definitely under paid for the work they do but we are all humans and I only want answers.

I'm not here to blame anyone but my concerns are not being met or answered.

I'm really, really, really worried about my parent's health deterioration and the fact that it's getting worse.

Please assist me.

Dear Worried man,

Thank you for taking the time to bring your concerns to our attention. Can I start by apologising for any distress and shortcomings in care that have occurred. It is my understanding that you are now actively involved in discussing concerns with the clinical team providing care. I have been in contact with the team and I am aware that they are keen and committed to ensuring that they are addressing your concerns.

Your letter is obviously anonymous and if this not the case or if you have on going concern can I please ask if you would consider contacting me directly on (08) 9224 2219.

Dr Aresh Anwar
