About: Central Gippsland Health

(as a relative),

I read with interest the two articles in The Gippsland Times, to say that "the hospital is no longer a comprehensive medical and surgical care centre, but really a series of aged car facilities or more plainly put, nursing homes" is an insult to the dedicated staff that work there. If it wasn't for the staff in the ED and CCU my husband wouldn't be alive today. The emergency care he received was excellent. He was resuscitated in the Emergency Department and then ventilated in the Critical Care Unit. He was transferred to Melbourne for further treatment. He was then sent to the Medical Unit for 2 weeks of rehabilitation. My husband is 60, definitely not in the aged care category. I cannot speak highly enough of the care he received. To say that the clinical staff is de skilled is putting fear into the general community. I for one have complete confidence in our hospital.
