"Travelling through the Kimberley I had a fall and injured my wrist"

About: Kununurra Hospital Royal Darwin Hospital Western Health

(as the patient),

At first we thought it was a sprain but it wasn't getting better. We were a group travelling the Gibb River Road (yes, very isolated) and after 6 days I went to Kunnanurra District Hospital. I received fabulous care and attention - x ray, cast - but had to continue onto Darwin where they recommended I to to Royal Darwin Hospital, which I did. Again terrific service. On my return to Melbourne I went to Emergency at Western Health Footscray. Again terrific, highly competent and professional service! We are so lucky to live in a country with a wonderful public health system and should support it and the people who work within it as strongly as we can.

Thank you for taking the time to post about the positive experience around your initial treatment at Kununurra Hospital for an injury sustained on the Gibb River Road. It was also interesting to read about the consistent good treatment you received in Darwin and Melbourne in the Public Hospital system. I share your delight in that we are truly lucky in Australia to have such a uniformly high standard of hospital and health cover across such different jurisdictions ranging from small remote to metropolitan facilities.

I hope you made a full recovery from the injury and it did not interfere too much with your across country travels.
