"Reattachment of my thumb"

About: Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital

(as the patient),

I was tying up my horse and he spooked, my top half of my thumb got caught in the lead rope and was detached from the knuckle up. I was sent to the Sydney Eye and Hand Hospital for reattachment. Due to the top part of the thumb being squashed and torn off, the reattachment failed, an expected result. With consultation with the specialist the decision was made to take half my right toe and attach to my thumb. This was a complete success! I could not have asked for any better care than I received from Dr Sean and his team at the Sydney Hand Unit. This team and the after care with the A1 nurses made me feel like I was the only patient on the ward. Many many thanks.
