I was referred urgently to the Eye Hospital by an optometrist who believed I may have a torn retina. Given it was a Sunday, the optometrist told me this was the best hospital to attend as they always have eye specialists on duty.
And so they did! I was seen promptly by the Triage Nurse who took the time to understand my concern. I was soon moved into the eye waiting area where I was seen by the very lively and lovey Nurse Irene. Everything was quickly checked out and I was ready to see the specialist.
There was a wait for the specialist as there was only one on duty. Also a couple of more urgent cases came in and were prioritised ahead of me. I understood this as they had serious issues.
The staff remained professional and pleasant at all times
The specialist was very thorough and professional. He confirmed the optometrist's concerns were correct and advised I had a tear in my retina. He was able to fix it pretty much on the spot with some laser surgery which was wonderful.
I left with my potentially serious eye condition all sorted.
Thanks to all the staff at the Sydney Eye Hospital! !
