This is about a number of my very long admissions to Box Hill Hospital. Although I had very good care, there are some things not done, but should have been.
They were: - Doctor's bedside visits too short, insufficient information given to patients, the nurses gave more information than doctors. I asked recently to have my discharge notes sent, but so far, have not received anything. How many times do I need to ask? It is for my personal use. Please do this, either by mail or whatever other means. I had a serious leg infection and spent a very long time recovering. Since then had a left total knee replacement. I am still recovering. More information should be given either by the Charge Nurse on the ward, or the Senior Surgeon in charge. I hope never to need further surgery. Even though I had good care, it was a very unpleasant experience. I am glad to be home and would like to thank the surgeon who operated on me for doing the surgery. It was meant to be done by another surgeon, but he was unavailable. Thank you to male nurse who cared for me and all staff on wards 7. 1. and 9. 1. And the people who deliver meals and the men who transport patients. Thank you to the imaging staff, for moving me from bed to table, they did well. Lastly, theatre staff - they moved me carefully and efficiently. Thank you. In future, please arrange for the Charge Nurse to give written information to every surgical patient.
"Good care, but some things could be improved."
