"Thank you to staff at Ipswich Hospital Emergency Department"

About: Ipswich Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

My child was brought to Ipswich Hospital Emergency Department by ambulance recently in the evening after a car accident some distance away. Our child's car had rolled over on a country road and was shockingly damaged. When we arrived the emergency room was very full and we lined up dreading what was to come. While we waited we watched the staff dealing with patients in a most caring manner, as they arrived. Despite being extremely busy, they created a calm atmosphere. The staff at reception were just so smiley and kind. When our turn came, they gave us visitors stickers and immediately took us through. We were told our child was in imaging and when they wheeled our child in, more staff came to talk to us and reassure our child and us that our child was okay. We felt warmed by their smiles and their kindness. Our child spent some time in short stay where again, the staff were genuinely caring and offered us a cup of tea. Our child was discharged later that even, sore but alive. Our thanks and praise to all the staff at this wonderful hospital, we will always remember their kindness throughout this traumatic event.

Dear Mother of patient

It must be very distressing for parents to receive a call about their child being involved in a serious accident, so it is wonderful that our Emergency Department (ED) staff provided you and your child with supportive and compassionate care during such a traumatic time. It is really good news that your child is going to be okay.

We are absolutely in awe of our ED staff! Even at very busy times, they provide patients and their families with kindness and respect while providing the best medical care possible. We are grateful for their commitment to our community and we join you in thanking them for their dedication and expertise.

Your experience has been shared with senior staff at the hospital and they will make sure your kind words are passed on to all ED staff. Thank you for taking the time to share your story with us and we wish you and your family well as you recover.

Yours sincerely

Consumer Liaison Office
