"Birthing in Broome"

About: Broome Health Campus / Maternity/Midwifery

(as a service user),

I am currently enrolled in the midwifery group practice with the pregnancy of my second child. I went through the same program with my first born, who was born at Broome Hospital, and was very happy with the care and support I received from the midwives. I was hoping to have a midwiferey supported home birth with my first, however was told it was not yet approved for Broome. My second will be due early next year and I am being told that the home birth option is still pending. Can someone please inform me when we will have an answer as to if the option will be available? Thankyou

Dear BroomeMama,

First of all, congratulations on the pending birth of your second child!

I have referred your query to Shane Bolton, acting Operations Manager at Broome Hospital for an update on the home birth situation.

Best wishes for the coming year and your second child.

Kind regards,

Maureen Crowther

Dear BroomeMama,

Firstly, thankyou for sharing your story and your question on the progress for home birthing options at the Broome Hospital.

Broome Hospital has been in the process of developing a publicly funded home birth service through our Midwifery Group Practice program for two years. Excitingly, we are now in the process of finalising the details around the implementation of this service.

If you would like to call our Clinical Nurse Midwifery Manager directly on 0418 511 139, we would be more than pleased to discuss this service and its implementation in more detail.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Kind Regards,

Shane Bolton
