With my father slipping further into his vascular dementia and my mother in hospital with heart complications, the time was here to take charge as their daughter and find a good aged care facility located near me if possible.
This took them from their gorgeous Noosa home and lifestyle , their friends, familiar environment and one they dearly loved to return to Melbourne .
Finding a place to accomodate a loving couple married 61 years, staying together, was nearly impossible.
Let downs were numerous but two weeks ago a room for both became available in a Blue Cross home called Karinya Grove.
The actual day felt harrowing but I have only had wonderful experiences since that day with caring staff, easy going atmosphere, very supportive to them and to me.
They settled easily, look well, enjoy their day and being close I come and go regularly and always feel staff are visually engaged and any issues have so far been addressed positively.
My father enjoys the gorgeous garden and nature nearby, whilst mum's used the library and sewing room.
I'm relieved and finally letting go of my worry as they settle into this next stage and chapter together.
"Placing my parents into an aged care facility, the anguish, the frustration, the positives."
