"Department of Pain Management at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital"

About: Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital

(as the patient),

I attended Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital recently for genicular nerve block in both knees. From the moment I was met until I left, I was treated with friendliness, kindness, and absolutely faultless care and attention!

Everything was explained to me each step of the way and it was a very calm, cheerful atmosphere around the area!

From my bed, I was able to see the staff move around and attend to the needs of all the patients as they went for treatment and returned and everyone was treated in a most caring professional manner!

I was very impressed with the attention to hygiene by the staff too - hand sanitation by each and every staff member in between patients and/or desk duties! As having had post-op MRSA four times and not being a carrier, (never in Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital) this 'automatic' action by the staff really made a welcoming sight!

I was greeted warmly in the procedure room and found the murals on the ceiling and wall a very interesting and enjoyable sight! My sincere and heartfelt gratitude to Dr Vincenzo, his young assistant, Heather, Bronwyn, Natalie, Joy and Peter! Peter is a very caring gentleman; I could see the kitchen way down the corridor and whilst waiting my turn watched as he walked back and forth with a lovingly made cuppa for a post-procedure patient.  When it was my turn, he made it just the way I love a good cup of tea! All his work with a happy disposition!

Dear waggles

Thank you taking the time to provide me with feedback regarding your positive patient experience at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. I am heartened to hear that staff are living up to the SCGH motto of ‘We put patients first’. I am also pleased to hear that all levels of staff involved in your care, from the doctor to patient support staff, contributed to your positive experience. It is reassuring to hear that staff demonstrated a commitment to providing compassionate clinical care while ensuring that any risk of infection was minimised by regular hand washing.

I will ensure that your comments are provided back to the staff in the Pain Management Department and the support staff who assisted in your care.

Thank you again for sharing your story with us and I wish you a quick recovery from your procedure.

Kind regards,

Dr Theresa Marshall, Director of Safety, Quality and Performance

Sir Charles Gairdner and Osborne Park Health Care Group
