My child attended emergency due to a head injury. My child had been unconscious and had a seizure and required CT scans and observation. At one point (in the early hours during the middle of the night), two staff members (nurse and an orderly/patient service assistant) were arguing about who would clean up the vomit and rubbish from the floor. The nurse had asked the orderly and they advised it wasn't their job as it was bodily fluids. There was also rubbish (gloves and dressing packets) in the walkway which the orderly also refused to clean up and advised that cleaning staff would do it in the morning. Their discussion in our earshot was very uncomfortable and I also felt terrible for my child who had vomited on the floor. There was also dried blood on the side of the bed/trolley in the resuscitation bay which was rather unpleasant (not from my child).
