(as a relative),

Recently my grandchild was brought in.  While waiting an affected male and his partner came in for treatment. One of your staff named Dan spent a number of hours controlling very violent behaviour so this man could receive treatment. He had been punched. He got very agitated and Dan made sure we were safe and offered us blankets and I believe kept this man from punching something or someone.

Dan you are a treasure and a champ. 

I take my hat off to you and admire your people skills and patience.

Dear Made sure we were safe

Thank you so much for taking the time to post your feedback on Patient Opinion. It’s wonderful that you have been able to recognise the special efforts Dan made to not only a person exhibiting challenging behaviours but also to make sure you and your family were safe.

It is not acceptable that health care workers need to deal with situations that threaten their safety but it sounds based on your feedback that Dan did a terrific job.

I will make sure Dan receives your feedback and I certainly hope your grandchild is recovering well post needing to attend the Emergency Department.
