"Waiting hours for a booked appointment to see a doctor for results."

About: Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital / 2 West & Hand Clinic

(as the patient),

I was at the Sydney Hand Hospital. They notified me to tell me to arrive half an hour before my appointment time. My appointment was for 10 am, so as requested I arrived at 9: 30 am. At 11: 45 am I heard that they were only just starting to interview the 9: 30 am appointments and that I could be waiting up to 2 hours to be seen by a doctor. I think that it's unrealistic to be expected to wait up to 2 hours to be seen for a booked appointment. I am only waiting to be seen for results. If I was in an Emergency Department I would expect to have to wait for a number of hours to be seen, but not for a booked appointment just to get results.

Dear Waiting for results

Thank you for detailing your experience in the Hand Unit Clinic on Patient Opinion. I apologise the waiting time to see a Doctor was extended on this occasion. The Hand Clinic is a public specialist referral centre and as such can be quite busy. The staff work hard to provide a service that meets everyone’s needs. Your feedback is valuable in helping to improve and meeting our patient and staff’s expectations.

Kind regards

Jennie
