Recently, for the first time ever, it was me being taken to emergency. After an accident at home I required six stitches to repair my mangled heel. The hospital staff were amazing. I was seen promptly and offered pain relief immediately. I was attended to by a young doctor, Nick, who was extremely capable and caring and even managed to laugh at a few of the terrible jokes I made. He kept me informed as to what he was doing and the possibilities that might occur with my treatment. He arranged for me to be seen by a more senior doctor and received instruction on how he might proceed with my treatment. Doctor Nick is a capable and confident doctor with a lovely manner. He made me feel relaxed and safe. This young man is an asset to the medical profession and I feel very fortunate that he was the doctor who treated me. Thanks also to the nurse who gave me a tetanus shot, Stephanie (I think), who also helped me to feel safe and cared for.
